THAT DAY

The Doors at Madison Square Garden NYC, 01/24/1969

It is in their eyes the consecration! Performing at Madison Square Garden in New York in front of 20,000 fans!

For the occasion they call on a bassist, Harvey Brooks, 2 horns and a brass section to accompany them on the tracks from the album The Soft Parade: Tell All the People, Wild Child, Who Scared You, The Soft Parade are notably interpreted there.

The amplification system has been customized for the occasion but nothing to do: the acoustic rendering is deplorable and harms the rendering of the performance as the gigantic size of the room which prevents the group from communing with its public.

The compensation was financial since they pocketed $50,000, a record for the time of which they were very proud.

They nevertheless regretted their choice artistically and preferred, moreover, a year later, to do 4 concerts in the small room of 5000 seats of the Felt Forum located in the basement of the MSG.
