DID YOU KNOW ?

Ray Manzarek & Nite City
Nite City (also known as Ray Manzarek's Nite City) was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, United States, in 1977 by keyboardist and former Doors member Ray Manzarek.

Originally named Pyramid, then Nite City, in reference to the "cities of the night" evoked in the autobiographical novel by John Rechy, the group managed by Danny Sugerman was composed of singer Noah James, bassist Nigel Harrison, who later experienced a greatest success as bassist for rock band Blondie, guitarist Paul Warren, drummer Jimmy Hunter and finally, keyboardist Ray Manzarek.

The group recorded and released two studio albums, the self-titled "Nite City" in 1977 and "Golden Days Diamonds Nights" in 1978, both on the 20th Century Record label. However, despite several appearances in prestigious venues such as Whiskey a Go Go, the band's music sold poorly and Nite City failed to gain sufficient notoriety on the international scene.

Shortly after the 1978 release of their second studio album, "Golden Days Diamond Nights", which was only released in West Germany due to a lack of label resources, Nite City, which had already faced with the departure of singer Noah James, separates definitively.

...Ray Manzarek returns to his solo productions, still accompanied by manager Danny Sugerman.
