DID YOU KNOW ?

When Morrison met Hendrix

The two rock legends, Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix, whose fate meant that they both left at the age of 27, have in fact already met several times... Did you know?

...Hendrix and Morrison first met at an open scene held in March 1968 at a New York nightclub called "The Scene". The purpose of these events lies in the fact that several artists can go on the same stage in order to improvise together.

The least we can say is that this collaboration will remain famous because of the mediocrity of the service. Indeed, Morrison, quite drunk and very agitated, caused real chaos, shouting into the microphone all kinds of obscenities before collapsing clinging to the knees of a bewildered and genuinely carried away Jimi Hendrix on the table at which it is said that a a certain Janis Joplin happened to be.

An amateur recording of this event circulates as "Morrison's Lament".

The two men's paths crossed again on April 2, 1968 at the "Paul Sauvé Arena" in Montreal. Much like the month before, Morrison burst onto the stage holding a bottle and exclaimed, "Hey Jimi! Jimi! Let me sing with you, and let's do this thing together man!"

Hendrix then retorted, "It's okay mate, I can handle this on my own."

Morrison's answer was not long in coming: "Do you know who I am? I'm Jim Morrison of the Doors!"

"Yeah !" then exclaimed his interlocutor, "And I am Jimi Hendrix!"
