DID YOU KNOW ?

Seattle Pop Festival '69, when Jim Morrison leaves Robert Plant hungry

In 1969, LED ZEPPELIN took off on a successful career as the DOORS, struggling with the exhibitionism lawsuits facing Jim Morrison, saw more and more dates canceled by promoters. .

However, on Sunday July 27, 1969, the two groups appear on the poster of the "Seattle Pop Festival 1970"! Morrison, no longer believing in his abilities as a Rock singer, will once again deliver a very sad performance, of which here is a summary in the book: "Jim Morrison, Life, Death, Legend":

"The audience seemed particularly bored with the rendition of 'When The Music's Over.' On 'Light My Fire', Jim Morrison improvises a slam or some kind of rap and a fan then throws a beer mug at him. ..Jim immediately gives him a finger and replies, "Hey, hey, hey, you bastard, say it again! Get it all out - all your little hate, everything that's bubbling up inside you. Come on!"

Unfortunately, Jim doesn't know it, but while he puts on a show and constantly provokes the audience, Robert Plant the singer of LED ZEP' is in the middle of the crowd with his girlfriend and the DOORS performance. leaves him quite perplexed. He declared in fact a few years later to the press:

"You can't lock yourself into a trip when you don't know what's going on around you." He adds of Morrison: "He hung off the side of the stage and almost rolled over into the audience, he did all these things which I suppose were sensual things originally. But as he became more big and let go, it got weirder. Eventually, it was really unhealthy to watch. My wife and I were there watching it and we couldn't believe it."

Fortunately, although disappointed with the performance he saw, Plant seemed to give the DOORS a chance. A fan recently spotted him sporting a 'Morrison Hotel' t-shirt.

Additionally, he has publicly stated, "I respect the music of The Doors. What Morrison was doing on record was good. The line 'Cancel my subscription to the resurrection' (In 'When The Music's Over') was awesome. He was just miles above the others!” It is perhaps for these reasons that the British artist notably played “Light My Fire” and “Break on Through” several times on stage...
