THAT DAY

Birth of George S. Morrison, January 7, 1919
George S. Morrison was the authoritative father figure of the Morrison family, made up of the couple he formed with his wife Clara and children James, Andrew and Anne.

Unfortunately, he was far too often absent due to his military obligations and unfortunately could only rarely fulfill his role as father of the family.

His many missions, including successive commands of the aircraft carrier "Bon Homme Richard" during the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 and the "USS Hancock" in December 1968, led the Morrison family to move many times to the United States. United, preventing the building of strong social bonds between children and other classmates.

The clash of generations opposing him to his son, dominated by a deep feeling of incomprehension for one and a rejection of all forms of parental and military authority for the other, has never been able to be mitigated before young Jim's untimely death in Paris in July 1971.

Nevertheless, despite this internal conflict between father and son, George Morrison, during the last years of his life, never ceased to imply that he carried within him a true love for a son whom he would have loved. know more.

He also made the choice to join personally and physically alongside DOORS drummer John Densmore during a long trial to defend his son's legacy in American courts, despite his advanced age!

Rear Admiral George Stephen Morrison left us on November 17, 2008 at the age of 89. He was decorated with the "Bronz Star" and was also a Legionnaire of the "Legion of Merit"...RIP
