THAT DAY

The Miami Incident, March 1, 1969
On March 1, 1969, The DOORS must occur at the "Dinner Key Auditorium", a former rehabilitated aircraft hangar located in Miami, Florida (State where Jim Morrison is from).

The room is already full, yet the promoter decides to remove the bleachers in order to sell more and more tickets. Morrison is slow to show up, too busy drinking at airport bars, so he misses 2 flights to Miami.

When he takes the stage, he is already clearly drunk and constantly provokes the audience, declaring that the spectators are "just a bunch of slaves" in the middle of the song "Five to One". Jim is actually inspired by "Paradise Now", an experimental play from the Living Theater that he saw a few days before and during which the actors strip naked while insulting the public.

During the evening, he will pour the contents of a bottle of champagne on the head of a spectator. When an animal protection activist manages to take a sheep on stage, he grabs his hat and says of the animal: "I fuck her good, but she's too young ".

The very disastrous performance (Morrison even refusing to sing at times), will take an unprecedented turn when Jim asks the public if he should drop his pants and show his attributes...

Did he really do it? Members of DOORS formally say no. The concert ends in relative calm, the group as well as Jim leave for a few days of rest in Jamaica. A few weeks later, Jim then learns that an arrest warrant has been issued against him and that he will have to face justice in the state of Florida for several counts including: indecent exhibition, public drunkenness and overt and lustful behavior. Considered "on the run", Morrison is forced to surrender to the police.
A long passage in court will follow during the year 1970...
