DID YOU KNOW ?

"Riders on the storm" is inspired by an old cowboy song and the story of a real serial killer

...The track "Riders on the Storm" is indeed inspired by a song from 1948, written by a certain Stan Jones and entitled "(Ghost) Riders In The Sky: A Cowboy Legend". The song was made famous by the respective interpretations of Vaughn Monroe and Johnny Cash.

During the recording sessions for the album "LA Woman", Ray Manzarek played the tune on keyboards and Morrison exclaimed "I have lyrics for that!"

The inspiration for "Riders on the storm" also draws its inspiration from the story of Billy Cook, a hitchhiker and serial killer who murdered six people, including a family, on the roads of California in 1950.
