DID YOU KNOW ?

Jim Morrison  the anti-hippie?

The Doors, though often affiliated with the "Flower Power" image of the late 1960s, through their Anti-Vietnam War ideals and shared values of sexual freedom, were one with the American counter-culture, but were in no way a bunch of Hippies...

And this is mainly explained through the feelings of Jim Morrison for the latter. Although advocating a message in accordance with the values of the Hippies, the young singer of the Doors, quite pessimistic about the success of this movement, never ceased to ridicule the community in question. For the drummer of the group John Densmore, who declared himself "Flower Child", he had fun, for example, throwing daisies on his snare drum during concerts.

The song "Five To One", evoking also a call for peaceful revolution and love between individuals, would actually be written satirically, so as to address the Hippies.

The Doors also refused to perform at the Woodstock festival in 1969, Morrison not only being involved in a lawsuit over the Miami affair, but sources also mentioned the fact that the "Lizard King" himself refused to play in front of a assembly of thousands of young Hippies, claiming that the group did not like to give outdoor concerts.

(Note that the drummer, John Densmore will go there anyway, to admire Joe Cooker.)

So, is Jim Morrison the anti-hippie?
