Hotel George V - 31 Avenue George V, 75008 Paris
On March 11, 1971, when he finished recording the vocals for the album "LA Woman" and was sentenced to prison for the Miami case, against which he is appealing , Jim Morrison, free because his bail has been paid but deeply depressed, flies to Paris to join his companion Pamela Courson who has been living in the French capital since February '71. He will never return to the United States again...
When he puts down his luggage in Paris, Jim occupies the room rented by Pamela Courson at the George V hotel, located at 31 of the avenue of the same name in the 8th arrondissement.
It's a 1928 palace whose 1930s-style interior decor made Jim say that the place looked like "a red-carpeted brothel in New Orleans." In the end, Morrison will never appreciate this place which nevertheless hosted the Beatles (in 1964), the Rolling Stones and many other celebrities...
Nevertheless, when he arrives at the George V, Jim finds that Pamela is not there and goes to wait for him by settling in the Bar Alexandre, located a little further on the avenue. The place will quickly become one of his favorite places in the capital, but we will come back to it later...
Today, the George V has become the "Four Seasons - George V", a completely renovated 5-star Parisian palace, with impeccable service and catering, known and recognized by the upscale Parisian milieu and foreign millionaires passing through the capital. . You will still have to count no less than 900€ if you plan to spend the night there...
