THAT DAY

Release of the album "LA Woman", April 19, 1971

On April 19, 1971, "LA Woman" was released, the DOORS' 6th studio album and the last with Jim Morrison...

Recorded from November 1970 to January 1971 at the "Doors Workshop", the group's personal studio in Los Angeles, the album stands out from other DOORS productions by being more Blues-Rock oriented. For the recording of the album, the band called on two additional musicians, namely: Jerry Scheff (bass) and Marc Benno (rhythm guitar).

Also note that this is the band's only studio album not to be produced by Paul A. Rothchild. The latter very affected by the death of Janis Joplin, whose last album he had produced, had qualified the work of the DOORS on this disc as being "bad cocktail bar music". He will be replaced by Bruce Botnick, the group's sound engineer.

"LA Woman" is also the only DOORS album which will not be accompanied by a tour, following the premature death of Jim Morrison in Paris, on July 3, 1971...
