THAT DAY

The Doors play to their largest non-festival audience, Madison Square Garden - NY, January 24, 1969

On January 24, 1969, the Doors performed to their largest non-festival audience (20,000 people) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This concert should not be confused with those given on January 17 and 18, 1970 at the Felt Forum, a hall located in the basement of this same Madison Square Garden.

The band were joined on stage that night by Harvey Brooks on bass and a symphonic ensemble of strings and brass to perform songs from the upcoming album "The Soft Parade". Also note a rare interpretation of the eponymous piece!

This date marks both the first concert of the Doors in 1969 but also their last before the infamous concert in Miami on March 1...
